Public Schools
Guilford County School sytem is the third largest school district in North Carolina serving more than 71,000 students. It is made up of 68 Elementary Schools, serving grades K through 5, and in some instances, Pre-K through 5, 21 Middle Schools, 25 High Schools, and two special education schools (Gateway and McIver special education centers). There are also 39 Magnet and Choice Schools. Residents also have the option of attending any of XX Charter Schools. Neighborhood school attendance is assigned based on where you live. The schools follow a standard cirriculum. Magnet schools are public schools that offer specialized educational opportunities such as global studies, Spanish immersion, or open philosphy.
